DUBLIN -- The Irish government plans to bring into force a new law in October that critics say is a return to medieval justice.
The legislation, aimed at providing judges with clear direction on the 1937 Constitution's blasphemy prohibition, imposes a fine of up to 25,000 euros -- about $39,000 -- for anyone who "publishes or utters matter that is [intentionally meant to be] grossly abusive or insulting in relation to matters held sacred by any religion, thereby causing outrage among a substantial number of the adherents of that religion."
I don't have a problem with such laws, providing they are ethnic-based. This new law however is premised on the projected demographic transformation (through immigration) Ireland is on course to make over the coming decades with islam becoming the majority religion.
Those who have romantic notions about Ireland's "struggle for independence" should take a stroll through Ireland today. Besides being overrun with increasingly pushy foreigners it is also increasingly coming under the power of, yep, foreign lords (via the European Union).
The "freedom fighters" in Ireland have always been headed by Internationalist-minded leftists.
In a century the Irish will be a minority on an island which will be torn between an increasingly islamic immigrant minority (rapidly reaching majority) on the one hand and corporate Euro-dominated autocrats on the other.
