All You Have Is Corporate Media...

Deracinated and atomized.

That’s what you are in post-modern Murica.

You did what you were told to do on reaching adulthood: “start your own life” “find yourself” “make your own way”, etc.

You left that small one-horse town.

You took that job in another state.

And so on.

Now, your only connection to community and your only notion of “what’s happening in the world” is via TV, internet.....

You have no family. And by family I mean immediate access to a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins, living nearby.

You have no traditions. No customs. No culture of your own. How many times have you moved? Are you living in the same town as your parents and grandparents?

You have no common world-view with family  and friends -only those vague and empty platitude about “freedom” and “rights”.

And again, that all comes from mass media.

You quote tv characters more than ancestors. You hardly know who your ancestors are, let alone honor their traditions, morality and way of life.

You believe the well crafted and manipulative slogans about “change" and so you find yourself more and more isolated in a world “constantly changing".

And to soothe that pain you turn to medication for mood, TV for mindless entertainment (escape) and lie to yourself that things have always been like this.

All of your notions of time, place, purpose, peace and happiness are spoon fed to you by global corporations via tv, movies, music, internet, etc.

And they all run contrary to that still, small voice inside you.

Media is a prison.

Turn it off to escape.
